Welcome!
Hey everyone!
Welcome to my brand new website! To start with, feel free to click on the sound bite to the right of the blog and listen to “The Beach!!!!” !
At the moment we’re up and running, thrilled to be so! Obviously, with anything new there will be a lot of growing to do and this is no exception to that rule. I still have things to add, but at the same time, we’re out of the blocks running.
Just so you know, one of the things that put me off a lot of websites, are ones that never change. You go there today and go there in a week, a month, a year, and they always look the same. That’s something I want to avoid with a passion. I’ll be striving to keep things here fresh and new.
Right now, on the “Studio Album” section of the site, we’re doing something that I haven’t seen previously on music sites. Each song on my CD “Shanghai’d and Marooned in Key West (things could be worse)” has it’s own page. The lyrics will be added and sometimes a bit of an anecdote to the song. Along with it, for most will be a piece of artwork by an artist. One of the regretful things in music today, which started when vinyl gave way to CDs, was album art started to become less important. For one, a warm cover that was 12″ square was reduced to under 4″ square and along with that the cover was a pain in the ass use wise. You had to pull it out and unfold it, not forgetting the lettering was microscopic in order to fit the tiny format.
Today, with digital downloads rapidly becoming the norm, regretfully artwork, lyrics, and information are just flat out falling by the wayside. I came up with the idea of retaining the art, lyrics, and information and actually taking it to another level entirely via this website. I’ve started to add art to almost every song, for instance, instead of just the cover. Some artists are world renowned international artists, such as Walfrido, who is in every Wyland Gallery in the world. Others, such as Artist Koz are local, Key West artists. I may even rotate the artists works, however we first must walk before we can run on this, so the jury is out on that for the moment. I still have to get all of the current artists up. Just click to the link above here titled “Studio Album”, then access the songs individually. At the moment, it’s not 100% done, but nonetheless, we’re off and running!
It should also be noted that although each song will have artwork, the artwork is not related to the song, per say. Right now I have ten songs from the album up and I can’t afford to commission one artist to do a specific piece, much less ten. However, all the artists we currently have and will be having, are all great artists and I’m sure you’ll enjoy them all! Also, if you double click on the artwork itself, it will bring you to a page with contact information on the artist, so you can see more of their work, or make arrangements for a commission work, or to obtain a piece. Personally, I’m very, very excited about this… thrilled is a good word, as it’s not something that’s been done before and I’m certain it will be the tip of the iceberg for future things to come!
Thank you for stopping by and being part of this ground breaking ceremony, for something that is an altogether new approach in marketing music and art together, once again! Also, a very special thank you to all of the contributing artists who donated their works! Please be sure to stop by their websites or Facebook pages and give them the recognition they deserve!
